Yesterday’s News
Friday featured an unusually high number of launches in the Kickstarter Comics category, but it’s a pretty mediocre crop. 1 project stands out in terms of superior art, and another stands out in terms of a major crowdfunding faux pas. A Kickstarter campaign for the exact, same comic (Reign in Ruins: Issue #1 - RELAUNCH) completed funding for more than $5000 in November, and the creator is already back on the platform asking for more money, like Kickstarter is an ATM. Bad form, dude, and the 3 backers and $85 you’ve raised so far should tell you that.
Other launches to avoid if you actually want comics:
Not Comics:
AI/Empty:
Elmoria - Volume 1 / Web Novel / Light Novel / Graphic Novel - No cover or interior art samples; just AI mock-ups of art concepts
Then, there’s quite a list of comics that just don’t cross the fulcrum of overall quality or creativity to reach formal recommendation status. This is pretty subjective, but there’s a lot of developmental potential here that’s yet to be realized:
CHOOPIES BAD BAD DAY! - Cover image too small to discern; 1 page of unimpressive sequential art
EARTHEATERS: Seed of Grief- an action-packed LGBTQ+ fantasy!
The same goes for the porn cover mills that dropped on Friday. Typical and run-of-the-mill:

Relaunching a project from November?! Creator claims it’s about pre-orders but if that were the case, why is the campaign so long and why is their goal so high? Doesn’t add up. If I were a backer of the previous campaign, I think I’d have questions.
Your automatic bias against Spicy comics is understandable, yet heavy handed. You tend to slag on classic works who play the Spicy cover game as well. Its not fair to judge old school creators who are adjusting to the current marketplace strategies of Indie Comics launches.
Also of note: You have mused in the past that pornographic works are somehow against Kickstarter TOS, which applies to Real Life works, NOT to Illustrated Art works. Feel free to email KS staff to get a clarification so you can stop making this baseless assumption.
You don't want people thinking you're some kind of puritanical prude now do ya?
